My keyboard players blog with hints and tips on a variety of musical subjects as well as news on what I’m up to.

Georgia Was On My Mind

So I’ve been trying to play Georgia like forever. Though it looks simple on sheet music playing and singing it is like a 10 on the difficult scale for me. Hopefully I’ll remember to play it a few times every week. Maybe my stride will smooth out.

False Start

I had two good jam sessions in March with a drummer and bass  player,  but then the drummer had some issues with his hand.   I have concluded it is difficult to have a band with several older guys as having all healthy at any one time not possible.   lol ….

I have been busy lately adding 5 new songs to my song list.

Bring It On Home To Me by Sam Cooke 1962
Heard It Through The Grapevine –  1970 the CCR version the
song was  a radio hit also for Marvin Gaye  and Gladys Knight.
Polk Salad Anne – Tony Joe White 1962
Susie Q –  CCR 1968   earlier by  Dale Hawkins 1957
Wild Nights   – Van Morrison  1970

Also worked some on  Moondance another Van Morrison song and
Low Rider by War.   Low Rider is proving to be hard to do the
bass line in the left hand and play the melody in the right .. but
I’ll keep working at it.
